Social media and Harassment. Are they Connected?
Social media is the interaction between people, wherein they can share or create information and ideas on social groups and communities. There are many forms of social media which may include magazines, Internet forums, blogs, wikis, social networks where we can share our views, posts, pictures, music, and many more.
Survey of Social Media
Social Networking sites allow us to find and connect with anyone, be it co-worker, classmates, old friends, or the person whom we met 10 years ago. With such technology, we feel connected to a larger segment of people. But some casual connections can also affect you.
Numerous casual relationships are formed through social media and in this way we are not able to distinguish between the meaningful relationships formed. Today cyberbullying is also very common among youths. Among all almost 42% of people say that they have been victims once because of these according to a survey.
Today students at the age of 15 meet at a local meet-up site and for them, it’s totally a new world. When they get compliments from strangers they feel flattered. And in teenagers, they believe what others say. If they say they are pretty then they believe them which wen provoked leads to romance and at this age, they get highly addicted to it.
Social Media Marketing in India
By mistake, if we put a picture and some stranger insults then there’s an adverse effect. Therefore now a new culture has been started Selfie Culture. It’s a photograph taken of oneself from phone, webcams, and uploaded on social websites. So in order to look good and get compliments people to click lots of pictures and upload the best one leading to Selfie addiction. When we say term addiction, it’s hard to believe that taking selfies can be addicted but yes it is harmful! Experts have connected selfies with mental illness and people searching for the best angle to take a picture in some cases can be ill.
When someone posts a selfie on Social media and somebody praises that then they feel flattered and believe what they say. So people waste their time clicking a picture which doest show defects in their appearance which they are aware of but should not be noticeable to others. And in this way, they get lots of praise and comments and feel happy when they read it and say at least somebody found them attractive.
Best Indian Website Design
At the small school age, being regarded as a sexual object and then for them at this age getting praised by older men is exciting as compared to high school romance. The priorities have changed our mothers and grandmothers emphasized women as aesthetic creatures and people now are more dependent on outward personality.
It’s awkward but yes, we live in a society where the lust of men is considered as self-respect and self-esteem. But it shouldn’t be this way. We should love ourselves not believing what others feel or say for us. Can we really go back and consider women/girls in the same way as we used to do one or two decades ago.
